Vandella x Seaweed Sway Present Vandella's 2nd Annual Night of 1,001 Stevies - (Set time: 8:00 PM)
Vandella x Seaweed Sway Present Vandella's 2nd Annual Night of 1,001 Stevies
SF indie-rock/soul band Vandella is teaming up with Seaweed Sway to present their 2nd Annual Night of 1,001 Stevies – a multi-city celebration of women x feminism x magic via the music of Stevie Nicks. The night will feature a diverse lineup of local bands and musicians in both LA and San Francisco: Vandella, Josiah Johnson (of The Head and The Heart), Everyone Is Dirty, Brenda Carsey, Lapel, Paige Calico, Katie Day, Cape Weather, Jacaranda, Jeremi Rebecca Hush, Blunts, and Marston. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Access: Women’s Health Justice, a CA-based charity that works to remove barriers to accessing abortion, and sexual and reproductive health care, particularly for lower-income and young women in underserved communities. They will be on-hand at the events with materials and resources. There will also be Tarot readings by Candido Cornejo (LA) and LouReads (SF).

The idea was the brainchild of Vandella frontwoman Tracey Holland, who has long been a champion of women in the music industry, both as an artist herself heavily involved in the SF music scene, and as the owner of Caveness Voice, where she works with a roster of burgeoning singers and songwriters, many of them female. In her personal roles as an artist, performer, songwriter, vocal coach, business owner, and band manager, as well as under the spectre of the current political & social climate surrounding women’s rights, Holland has seen a need for, and felt a strong pull towards, more advocacy and discussion to bolster women’s (both by birth, and trans women’s) voices and rights. Combining elements of what she’s passionate about (music, feminism, and the need for strong, vibrant, inclusive music-and-arts communities), The Night of 1,001 Stevies aims to actively-embrace and harness the powers of music, feminine energy, and activism; themes that are embodied in the music and life of Stevie Nicks.
VANDELLA
VANDELLA
SF's Vandella is a lovechild of rock & roll, roots & soul, helmed by two enigmatic frontpeople and distinct songwriters. A modern-day Buckingham-Nicks, vocalist Tracey Holland and guitarist Chris Tye mix up a potent potion of sexy, sweaty 70s-era rock & roll. A package of Rolling Stones rock-meets-Alabama Shakes soul, the two met while both studying music in LA and spent the subsequent years traveling up and down the West Coast, honing their individual signatures and tying them together to form Vandella. Garnering comparisons to Stevie Nicks and Janis Joplin, Holland is a powerhouse of a frontwoman, whose vocal prowess is matched only by her insistent command of the stage. As writers, Holland is at times intense and bewitching; tempered by the understated, perennially-cool air of her counterpart in Tye. The result is a sound that feels both exciting yet effortlessly vibey - evocative of that hazy sheen of their native California.
Katie Day
Katie Day
After years of performing and recording as a multi-instrumentalist/background vocalist for various bands across the country, Midwest native Katie Day packed up her life (mostly instruments & Chicago Cubs merch) to head west. It was there that a series of heartbreaks, heartbreakings, financial crises, and other misfortunes led her to find her voice, put her foot down, and enter the studio to record her debut solo EP, Burn It to the Ground. Burn It has been featured both on Mtv's The Real World and on the big screen. Following the success of her debut EP, Day once again hit the studio to produce her latest work, Kids. An homage to her Midwestern upbringing, Kids is deemed as "dreamy indie pop" and likened to Washed Out, Tame Impala, and M83. Kids was written (with the exception of Foo Fighters cover, "Everlong"), co-produced, and performed almost exclusively by Day. With such a diverse range of talents, Katie Day is surely an artist to keep your eye on.
